NBA Aiming For MLK Day Start To 20-21 Season

The NBA is focusing on starting the 20-21 season on Martin Luther King Day, which falls on January 18th.

MLK Day has historically been an important day on the NBA’s calendar as it is a national holiday on a Monday as the NFL playoffs winds down. A Christmas Day start hasn’t been ruled out, but MLK Day feels more pragmatic at this time for the league.

It hasn’t been decided whether the NBA can implement a full 82-game schedule.

The focus for 20-21 is to finish in time for the draft, free agency and rest of the 2021 offseason to return to a normal mid-October start for 21-22.
