Victoria records one new local COVID case and two in hotel quarantine

Victoria has recorded one new locally acquired COVID-19 case overnight and two new cases among travellers returning from overseas.

The result was detected from among 30,843 test results processed on Friday.

The new locally acquired case is a primary close contact of an existing case. He has been in quarantine throughout his infectious period.

The latest figures come as the state’s regional and metropolitan areas were reunited for the first weekend in three weeks as restrictions eased.

Melburnians travelling to alpine resorts are required to obtain proof of a negative COVID-19 test result in the three days before heading to the snow.

There are now 51 active cases case across Victoria – down from 94 active cases less than two weeks ago.
