Habs’ Paul Byron, Cayden Primeau added to the NHL’s COVID-19 list

Forward Paul Byron and goaltender Cayden Primeau are the latest Montreal Canadiens to make the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol list.

They join teammates Laurent Dauphin, Mike Hoffman, Artturi Lehkonen, Tyler Toffoli, Ben Chiarot, Joel Edmundson, Jeff Petry, Chris Wideman, Jake Allen and goaltending coach Eric Raymond.

Byron has yet to play a game this season after hip surgery in the summer. He was expected to play Tuesday in Tampa, but was scratched earlier in the day.

Primeau was supposed to start Thursday in Carolina. Montreal is now down to two healthy goaltenders — Sam Montembeault and Michael McNiven, who has never played in an NHL game.
