Ottawa police are investigating after fires were set early Thursday morning at three nearby properties in Centretown.
The force’s arson unit has taken over the investigation, police said, though no further information was provided.
It was a busy early morning for Ottawa Fire Services, with firefighters attending to three separate fires within a few blocks of each other in the city’s core.
The first fire was reported at 4:50 a.m. at a property in the 100 block of Cambridge Street North. About a half-hour later, at 5:20 a.m., another fire was reported at the 600 block of Somerset Street West.
No injuries were reported but two people were displaced in the fires.
Finally, there was a fire reported at a location in the 500 block of Lisgar Street a short time later at 5:35 a.m.
Again, no injuries were reported at this fire.
From east to west, all three locations were within just over a kilometre of each other.
