Trump Admin Asks Supreme Court to Pause Wednesday Night Deadline for Restarting Foreign Aid Payments

The Trump administration filed an emergency appeal at the Supreme Court on Feb. 26 asking the justices to pause a 12 a.m. deadline to resume $2 billion in foreign aid payments.
The filing follows an appeals court bid to consider the same request after a group of nonprofits and contractors sued the administration for freezing funds from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Department.
U.S. District Judge Amir Ali issued a temporary restraining order earlier this month directing both USAID and the State Department to restore funding for contracts that predated Jan. 20 but were frozen by the Trump administration….
