Toronto police are searching for a 14-year-old male in the stabbing death of a 71-year-old woman in North York.
Police said the victim, Shahnaz Pestonji, was putting groceries into her car at a plaza parking lot in the area of Parkway Forest Drive and Sheppard Avenue when she was attacked around 9:30 a.m. on July 17.
Life-saving measures were performed on Pestonji and she was taken to hospital, but later died, according to Toronto Police Service (TPS).
TPS Homicide and Missing Persons Unit Detective Matthew Pinfold said police believed that the teen intended to rob Pestonji.
