Pablo Rodriguez Resigns as Transport Minister, Will Sit as Independent

Pablo Rodriguez has resigned from his position as federal transport minister and will serve as an Independent MP until he launches his campaign for the leadership of the Liberal Party in Quebec.
“I have informed the prime minister of my resignation as Canada’s transport minister and Quebec lieutenant effective immediately,” Rodriguez announced during a press conference in Ottawa on Sept. 19.
“I have also decided to sit as an Independent MP until the launch of the leadership campaign next January.”
Rodriguez said sitting as an independent would allow him to set his “own priorities” instead of “defending the priorities of the government.” Rodriguez said he is now focused on building his team and vision for Quebecers….
