‘All Hands on Deck’: DeSantis Preps Gulf Coast for Category 3 Hurricane

TAMPA—Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis said the state is preparing for the possibility of a major hurricane hitting the state’s West Coast by Wednesday, Oct. 9, and top priority is round-the-clock debris cleanup from Hurricane Helene, which hit only 10 days ago.
“This is all hands on deck to get that debris where it needs to be,” he said during a press conference at the state’s emergency operations center on Oct. 6.
Tropical Storm Milton continues to intensify throughout the morning of Oct. 6, with maximum sustained winds recorded at 65 mph as of 11 a.m. ET.
Located 835 miles west-southwest of Tampa, Florida, and crawling closer at 6 mph, the National Hurricane Center forecasts Milton to grow into a strong Category 3 hurricane by Oct. 8 with maximum sustained winds of around 125 mph….
