Country music star Dolly Parton has partnered with Walmart and Sam’s Club to offer financial assistance to communities impacted by the widespread destruction of Hurricane Helene.
At a press event in Newport, Tennessee, on Oct. 4, Parton announced a personal $1 million donation to Hurricane Helene relief, with her Tennessee-based businesses matching that to bring the total to $2 million to support urgent recovery efforts.
“These are special people here; they’re my people,” Dolly said. “I feel like all people are my people, but everyone here grew up in the mountains just like I did so of course I have a close connection to them. I can’t stand to see anyone hurting, so I wanted to do what I could to help after these terrible floods.”…
