Supreme Court Lets National Horse Racing Safety Rules Remain in Effect

The U.S. Supreme Court on Oct. 28 allowed safety rules for horse racing remain in effect as litigation challenging the rules proceeds.
Justices ruled 8–1 to keep the rules in place, backing a stay entered by Justice Samuel Alito in September.
Alito, and now the full court, stayed a ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals from the Fifth Circuit that found unconstitutional part of a law that gives a nonprofit, the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA), power to impose and enforce horse racing safety rules.
