Senate Leader-Elect Thune Says ‘All Options’ on the Table to Confirm Trump’s Cabinet Selections

Incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has responded to a question about President-elect Donald Trump’s selections for his cabinet and the likelihood of those individuals being confirmed by the Senate, saying he isn’t taking recess appointments off the table.
Before being elected as the Senate majority leader, Thune issued a statement that he would allow for “recess appointments,” as Trump suggested.
This week, Trump has selected a number of individuals to join his Cabinet that Democratic lawmakers took issue with, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, Matt Gaetz to lead the Department of Justice, Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence, and Pete Hegseth to lead the Department of Defense.
