Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter, former Laker Magic Johnson, and 2028 Summer Olympics organizer Casey Wasserman have been enlisted to lead “LA Rises,” an initiative to help reeling communities rebuild and recover after this month’s destructive wildfires, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced on Jan. 28.
The governor also reported an initial contribution of up to $100 million promised by Walter, the Mark Walter Family Foundation, and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation.
LA Rises will bring private sector leaders together to support rebuilding efforts led by the city and county of Los Angeles and the state.
Newsom, who is spearheading the state’s response in Altadena and Pacific Palisades, the communities most affected by the Palisades and Eaton fires, said he was grateful for the joint effort….
