Ohio Governor Signs Parental Rights Bill Into Law

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed into law the “Parents’ Bill of Rights,” giving parents the right to know if their child’s instructional material in school includes inappropriate “sexuality content.”
The governor signed House Bill 8 on Jan. 8, according to a statement from his office.
The bill requires public schools to ensure that “any sexuality content is age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate” and that parents are provided notice about “instructional materials that include sexuality content,” according to a bill analysis. Such content includes sensitive and controversial topics related to gender. Parents should also have “an opportunity to request alternative instruction” under the new law….
