Bloomingdale’s in San Francisco Centre plans to permanently close March 31, according to a notice published with the state Feb. 3.
The department store, owned by Macy’s and located in the shopping district of Union Square, plans to lay off 164 employees at its 845 Market Street location, according to the notice.
A company representative did not return a request for information on the closure by publication time. Several other shuttered retailers, including Nordstrom in August 2023, reported sales have dropped off at the downtown mall.
The Nordstrom location anchored the Westfield San Francisco, which was renamed to the San Francisco Centre in June 2023 when Westfield and Brookfield gave up the mall to their lenders citing a decline in sales and foot traffic….
