Denis Coderre’s Leadership Bid Rejected by Quebec Liberal Party

The Quebec Liberal Party says it won’t accept the candidacy of former Montreal mayor Denis Coderre for its vacant leader job.
The party says in a statement today that its electoral committee has ruled that Coderre’s candidacy is inadmissible.
It says on the social media platform X that Coderre has the right to file an appeal within five days of the committee’s decision.
Coderre’s candidacy had been in limbo for some time and last week, the party said Coderre had not yet submitted all necessary documents in support of his candidacy.
In recent months, media outlets have reported that Coderre owes about $400,000 in provincial and federal taxes—more than $130,000 to Revenu Québec and over $266,000 to the Canada Revenue Agency….
