Authorities announced Friday that a plane matching the description of one with 10 people aboard that disappeared in Alaska has been located on sea ice, with three bodies discovered inside the wreckage.
U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson Cameron Snell said that crews had not been able to fully access the plane and were continuing their search efforts.
“Right now we just know that there’s three [bodies],” he said.
The plane, a Cessna caravan, was en route from Alaska’s Unalakleet to Nome when it disappeared from radar, the Nome Volunteer Fire Department said in an earlier statement.
The department said that ground searches had been launched in Nome and White Mountain for the missing plane, but that poor weather conditions complicated aerial search efforts….
