Trump Signals He’s Open to Multiple Budget Bills After Earlier Endorsing Single Bill Approach

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump on Feb. 21 said he was open to multiple budget bills to fund his policy initiatives after earlier this week endorsing a one-bill approach adopted by the House Republicans.
His remarks came hours after Senate Republicans passed a budget blueprint that calls for two bills to implement Trump’s agenda. The Senate version has been cast as a backup plan in case House Republicans are unable to pass their bill.
The House is set to vote on its version of the budget plan next week.
Republicans in the Senate and House, who hold slim majorities in both bodies, are undertaking the process in order to authorize nearly $5 trillion in new spending to fulfill Trump’s campaign promises—ranging from the construction of a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico to the extension of tax reductions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017….
