U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), working with multiple law enforcement agencies, arrested 370 “alien offenders” during a crackdown on criminal activities in Massachusetts from March 18-23.
The arrests came as part of an “enhanced targeted enforcement operation focusing on transnational organized crime, gangs, and egregious illegal alien offenders,” ICE said in a March 24 statement.
Targeted organizations included the Tren de Aragua, MS-13, Trinitarios, and 18th Street gangs. El Salvador-based MS-13 and Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua were designated as terrorist organizations by the State Department last month.
“ICE and their federal law enforcement partners made many of the apprehensions after local jurisdictions refused to honor immigration detainer requests to turn over the offenders and instead chose to release aliens from custody, forcing officers and agents to make at-large arrests in Massachusetts communities,” the agency said….
