President Donald Trump defended his sweeping tariffs on imports from other countries on Sunday, saying they are aimed at fixing trade imbalances and not at causing a global stock market selloff. “I don’t want anything to go down. But sometimes, you have to take medicine to fix something,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. “We have been treated so badly by other countries because we had stupid leadership that allowed this to happen. And it’s not sustainable.”
