The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is set to raise the annual launch number of SpaceX Starship spacecraft from Texas, according to a May 6 update on the agency’s website.
Under the existing license, SpaceX could make only five annual Starship system launches from the Boca Chica launch site in Cameron County, Texas, according to the agency’s environmental assessment report. The FAA’s move to update the license now allows SpaceX to conduct up to 25 Starship system launches annually.
In making the decision, the FAA analyzed potential environmental impacts related to factors such as air quality, noise, and water resources.
