Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a citizen of El Salvador, has returned to the United States, where he will face criminal charges for allegedly smuggling illegal immigrants, Attorney General Pam Bondi said on June 6.
Abrego Garcia’s return comes more than two months after the Trump administration deported him from Maryland to his home country. In May, a federal grand jury in Tennessee indicted him for two counts of human trafficking.
Officials said he was deported because Abrego Garcia was an illegal immigrant and a member of the MS-13 gang. His lawyers have denied the gang association and said Abrego Garcia had not been charged with or convicted of any crime….
