The U.S. Secret Service on Monday responded to a social media controversy over the appearance and role of an agent during the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary parade in the nation’s capital.
Initial criticism came from journalist Susan Crabtree, who praised the overall security operation during the June 14 event but took issue with what she called an “odd, casual look” of one young female Secret Service agent stationed atop a World War II-era tank nicknamed “Sugar.”
In a post on social media platform X, Crabtree highlighted that the agent wore an oversized Army helmet without a chinstrap, civilian-style sunglasses, light khaki pants, and high-heeled boots, an outfit that she said set the agent apart from the others, who were positioned more discreetly inside their assigned vehicles….
