A 13-year-old boy was arrested July 8 on suspicion of setting off fireworks that sparked a wildfire in Laguna Beach, California.
Flames spread along Rancho Laguna hillside after about 2 p.m. on July 7 as the Rancho Fire grew, prompting authorities to evacuate some surrounding neighborhoods in the Southern California coastal town.
With the help of fixed-wing aircraft dumping water, crews were able to contain the fire to about four acres by July 8, according to the Laguna Beach Fire Department.
As crews responded to the fire, several witnesses reported seeing a juvenile in the area who was possibly setting off fireworks, according to authorities….
