OTTAWA—Tamara Lich’s defence lawyer pushed back against the Crown’s call for a seven-year prison sentence for Lich, telling an Ottawa courthouse that the Freedom Convoy organizer encouraged a peaceful and lawful protest and was not responsible for any criminal actions other protesters may have committed.
“The means which Tamara Lich advocated were consistently peaceful and lawful… There was nothing criminal about the means that Tamara Lich put forward,” defence lawyer Lawrence Greenspon said at a July 24 sentencing hearing.
“What the Crown should admit is that this is a prosecution not because of a means advocated by Tamara Lich, but because of a means used by a minority of protesters present.”…
