A 29-year-old man accused of crashing his vehicle into a crowd outside a nightclub in East Hollywood over the weekend, injuring dozens, has been charged with 37 counts of attempted murder, prosecutors said on July 22.
Fernando Ramirez was also charged with 37 counts of assault with a deadly weapon, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said at a press conference.
Hochman said the suspect had been charged with one count for each of the 37 victims injured when a car hit the crowd. If convicted, he could face multiple sentences of life imprisonment.
Hochman said on July 19 at about 2 a.m. Ramirez, of San Clemente, intentionally drove his vehicle onto the sidewalk near The Vermont Hollywood, a popular venue in the 1000 block of North Vermont Avenue, where he allegedly struck a crowd of people….
