The Central Texas girls camp hit by flooding over the July Fourth weekend confirmed on Monday the deaths of 27 campers and counselors.
The century-old summer camp was among the sites affected by flooding that killed more than 80 people following days of heavy rain. Officials have said the death toll will rise.
“Camp Mystic is grieving the loss of 27 campers and counselors following the catastrophic flooding on the Guadalupe River,” Camp Mystic in Kerr County, Texas, said in a statement posted on its website. “Our hearts are broken alongside our families that are enduring this unimaginable tragedy.
