A mid-air collision between two Cessna aircraft in Manitoba that claimed the lives of two pilots, including an Indian national, is under investigation by the RCMP and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
Officers were notified of the crash on July 8 at 8:45 a.m. in the rural municipality of Hanover, the RCMP said in a press release. Hanover is located 70 kilometres south of Winnipeg.
RCMP, fire crews, and emergency medical services attended the scene located just south of Steinbach, where they found the wreckage of two small, single-engine aircraft, police said.
Both pilots were found dead at the scene and no passengers were aboard either plane, RCMP Cpl. Melanie Roussel said during a July 8 news conference. She declined to provide any information about either of the victims, saying it was still early in the investigation….
