Envelopes containing white powder were discovered at 26 Federal Plaza, Lower Manhattan, on Thursday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in an Aug. 14 X post.
The building houses various federal agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the FBI.
During an Aug. 14 press briefing, New York City Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Kaz Daughtry said, “Around 4 p.m. today, envelopes containing an unidentified white powder was discovered on the ninth floor.”
According to the ICE website, the building’s ninth floor is home to its New York City field office.
“I would like to assure the public that there are no injuries at this time,” Daughtry said….
