President Donald Trump on Aug. 25 threatened to restrict U.S. chip exports and impose additional tariffs on imports from countries that refused to eliminate digital taxes.
In a Truth Social post, Trump opposed digital taxes and said that digital market regulations imposed by other countries were intended “to harm, or discriminate against, American Technology.”
Trump warned that countries would face “substantial additional tariffs” unless digital taxes are withdrawn. Washington would also impose restrictions on chip exports to those countries as part of the response.
“They also, outrageously, give a complete pass to China’s largest Tech Companies. This must end, and end NOW,” Trump said of the countries with digital taxes….
