Two-Thirds of Canadians Say Immigrants Should Adopt ‘Canadian Values’: Poll

The majority of Canadians say that immigrants should only be allowed into the country if they “adopt Canadian values,” according to a new poll.
The poll conducted by Research Co. and released Aug. 14 found that two-thirds (66 percent) of surveyed Canadians said that newcomers to the country should adopt the country’s values. Meanwhile, 25 percent of survey respondents disagreed with this view, and 10 percent said they were unsure.
Older Canadians were most likely to say that immigrants should adopt Canadian values, with nearly three-quarters (74 percent) of those over the age of 55 in agreement, compared to 58 percent of those aged 18 to 34 expressing this view….
