Wildfire Near Peachland, BC, No Longer Out-of-Control, Residents Could Soon Go Home

The wildfire near Peachland, B.C., that forced hundreds of residents to quickly evacuated their homes just days ago is no longer out of control.
The BC Wildfire service says the blaze is now considered as being held after aerial firefighting efforts yesterday were effective in cooling the fire, which is showing a slow-to-moderate spread.
The Central Okanagan Emergency Operations says in its own update that crews are assessing the conditions around the fire, and they appear “favourable” enough that evacuation orders for the remaining 118 homes could be lifted later today.
