Supreme Court Grants BC Ostrich Farm Interim Stay of Cull: Farm’s Lawyer

A B.C. ostrich farm subject to a cull order has been granted an emergency interim stay by the Supreme Court Sept. 24, according to the farm’s lawyer Umar Sheikh. 
The news comes in advance of a planned slaughter of the flock of 399 ostriches at Universal Ostrich Farms by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) due to avian flu concerns.
The stay halts enforcement of the CFIA’s “stamping-out policy” either until the request for leave to appeal is rejected, or, if it is accepted, until the case is fully resolved, according to a copy of the stay granted by the Supreme Court of Canada provided by Sheikh on Sept. 24 to the Epoch Times….
