An elderly Ontario woman was robbed on her own doorstep in what Hamilton police are describing as a “distraction theft.”
A Flamborough senior was “targeted” outside her home when her gold necklace was swapped for imitation jewelry, police said in a Sept. 16 X post.
Police said it is one of many distraction thefts this year in the Hamilton area. A distraction theft is when the victim’s focus is redirected by the perpetrator so they can steal an item or gain access to the victim’s home.
