BC RCMP Officer Ordered to Resign Over Off-Duty Drunk-Driving Incident Involving Gun

A British Columbia RCMP officer has been ordered to resign from the force after a conduct board found he operated a vehicle while intoxicated and pointed a handgun at two civilians.
Const. Olavo Castro, who was posted at the Williams Lake detachment in B.C., was found to have contravened the RCMP Code of Conduct in the board’s decision, which was published online this week.
A hearing was ordered last year to examine Castro’s actions on July 1, 2022, while off duty. Castro was on extended medical leave at the time, according to the document.
