New York Attorney General Letitia James was indicted by a federal grand jury on Thursday on at least one fraud charge, multiple media outlets reported, citing anonymous sources.
James, who has previously denied wrongdoing, was being investigated for mortgage fraud after Federal Housing Finance Agency chief Bill Pulte alleged earlier this year that she falsely described her Norfolk, Virginia, home as a primary residence in order to secure a more favorable interest rate on a home mortgage loan.
Pulte further alleged that James may have inaccurately described her home in Brooklyn.
A person familiar with the matter told Reuters, MSNBC, and other media outlets that the Democratic attorney general was indicted in the Eastern District of Virginia on one count after a bank fraud investigation….
