Plurality of CFL Fans OK With Making Game More Like NFL, but Say Now Not the Right Time: Poll

While almost half of Canadian Football League (CFL) fans approve of the league’s announced changes to its rules, nearly two-thirds say now is not the time to make the Canadian game more like the U.S. game, a new poll indicated.
CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston announced a series of changes to the league’s rules at a Sept. 22 press conference that are set to be implemented over the next two years.
Johnston said one of the changes scheduled to begin in 2026 is that a single point will no longer be awarded for a missed field goal, a punt, or a kickoff through the end zone, unless it settles in the end zone and a returner fails to run it out or takes a knee….
