Tony Wakeham’s Progressive Conservatives have won a majority government in Newfoundland and Labrador, ending 10 years of Liberal rule.
The PCs won 21 of the provincial legislature’s 40 seats in the Oct. 14 election. The Liberals finished with 15, the NDP with two, and Independents took the remaining two seats.
The PCs last won a provincial election in 2011, while the Liberals won the next three.
In the 2021 election, the Liberals had won with 22 seats, the PCs came in second with 13, and the NDP won two, while Independents took the remaining three.
Wakeham, Liberal Leader and incumbent Premier John Hogan, and NDP Leader Jim Dinn all won their own seats….
