Exposure to certain dog treats has been linked to a recent salmonella outbreak, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).
The agency says certain “Puppy Love” and “Puppy World” brand dog treats have been identified as a “likely source” for some of the illnesses reported in the outbreak.
In a public health notice updated on Oct. 17, the agency said salmonella was found in samples of:
Puppy World Lamb Lung treats (150 gram, 340 gram, 454 gram bags)
Puppy Love Chicken Wing Tip treats (120 gram bags)
Puppy Love Chicken Breast treats (120 gram and 300 gram bags)
Puppy Love Beef Chew 6 inch treats (Value pack, four pieces)
Puppy Love “Twisty Jr.” beef treats (Value pack, five pieces)
There have been 31 laboratory-confirmed cases of illness linked to the salmonella outbreak in Canada, including 14 in Alberta, 14 in British Columbia, two in Ontario, and one in the Northwest Territories, PHAC says….
