Trump Says US to Share Nuclear-Powered Submarine Tech With South Korea

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that the United States will share sensitive nuclear propulsion technology with South Korea so the U.S. ally can build a nuclear-powered submarine to counter regional threats, such as from China and North Korea.
The announcement was made via posts Trump made to Truth Social after a summit with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. In addition to the nuclear technology sharing, the leaders discussed modernizing their military alliance and trade deals.
South Korea has committed $150 billion to U.S. shipbuilding investments, with the submarine slated for construction at the Hanwha Philly Shipyard.
“Our Military Alliance is stronger than ever before and, based on that, I have given them approval to build a Nuclear Powered Submarine, rather than the old fashioned, and far less nimble, diesel powered Submarines that they have now,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, going on to say he had “a great trip, with a great President of South Korea!”…
