Canadian citizens travelling to the United Kingdom will soon need to obtain a travel authorization from the British government before boarding a flight.
The British Home Office announced this week that visitors from 85 countries who can travel to the United Kingdom without a visa will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) starting Feb. 25, 2026. This includes citizens from Canada, the United States, and France.
The scheme had been in place since 2023 but had not been fully enforced, with the UK government saying this allowed visitors time to adapt to the new requirement.
