Education Department to Shift More Work to Other Agencies Amid Dismantling

Several more Department of Education functions will be moved to other federal agencies as part of the ongoing effort to dismantle the department and save taxpayer dollars, a senior department official said Nov. 18.
Federal grant programs for K-12 schools and colleges and universities—more than $30 billion in institutional funding for personnel and facilities, not students—will be moved to the Department of Labor. The Labor Department will also “play a greater role in administering federal K-12 programs, ensuring these programs are better aligned with workforce and college programs to set students up for success,” according to an Education Department news release….
