Thousands of people were without power in Montreal after the first snowstorm of the season hit over the weekend.
About 316,000 homes and businesses across Quebec were without electricity around 12 p.m. Nov. 11 after the storm created hazardous conditions.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said a low pressure system in the region that began on Sunday brought a mix of freezing rain and snow to the southern part of the province. It knocked down trees, created slippery road conditions, and caused schools to close.
Hydro Quebec, the government-owned utility, said the weight of wet leaves and snow were causing some branches to break on trees, which would then come into contact with power lines….
