Politicians React to Former Environment Minister Guilbeault’s Resignation

Politicians from several parties have reacted to former Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault’s resignation from cabinet over Prime Minister Mark Carney’s deal with Alberta to advance a pipeline and modify several Trudeau-era environmental policies.
On Nov. 27, hours after Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to pave the way for the building of a new pipeline to the B.C. coast, Culture Minister Guilbeault submitted his resignation letter, citing disagreements with the new Liberal government’s energy and environmental policies.
Prime Minister Mark Carney said in a post on X the same day that he was “deeply grateful” for Guilbeault’s counsel and contributions to his government, but that Carney’s new “climate strategy” would not be “based solely on regulations and prohibitions.” …
