67% of Canadians Prefer ‘Merry Christmas’ as Go‑To Holiday Greeting

An increasing majority of Canadians prefer the greeting “Merry Christmas” during the holiday season, yet for some, it is a period that is “more stressful than fun,” a new poll suggests.
A survey of more than 1,000 adults by Research Co. found that while most offer traditional Christmas greetings, one-in-three don’t anticipate a jolly season.
Sixty-seven percent of Canadians said they favour the greeting Merry Christmas, a five-point increase compared to the firm’s previous polling last year.
Eighteen percent favour the more generic Happy Holidays, which experienced a six-point decline from the previous year and 16 percent “are not sure or don’t care either way,” according to the report….
