Apple’s AI Chief Is Stepping Down

Apple’s artificial intelligence (AI) chief, John Giannandrea, will step down to serve as an advisor before retiring next year, the company announced Monday.
Giannandrea was with the Cupertino, California-based tech giant for nearly eight years and played a key role in its AI and machine learning strategy, but recently endured criticism over delayed AI development.
“We are thankful for the role John played in building and advancing our AI work, helping Apple continue to innovate and enrich the lives of our users,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement.
