WAWAYANDA, N.Y.—A Middletown man is in critical condition after being shot by an off-duty Kingston police officer during an apparent road rage incident, New York State Police say.
Officers from the New York State Police Middletown barracks responded to the Dec. 11 shooting at about 3:45 p.m. on Dolsontown Road near the intersection with McVeigh Road.
According to a state police report, the altercation between the off-duty officer, identified as Anthony Simon, 33, and Middletown resident Wallace Fisher, 31, lasted for about a mile along Dolsontown Road. Fisher left his 2020 Volkswagen and approached Simon’s 2021 Toyota pickup truck, and a verbal exchange ensued through the driver’s window before turning physical….
