Pedestrian killed in CTrain collision near Bridgeland LRT station

A pedestrian has died following a Wednesday morning collision involving a CTrain near Bridgeland/Memorial station and Franklin station.

At approximately 7 a.m., police and EMS were called to the Bridgeland LRT station for a fatal pedestrian collision involving a CTrain.

According to an AHS spokesperson, paramedics attended the scene and determined one person to be deceased. Officials say there were no transports to hospital from the scene.

The incident caused major traffic backups on Memorial Drive, but the scene has since been cleared and roads are fully open, according to police.

A Calgary Transit online update says the Blue Line is shut down between Bridgeland/Memorial station and Franklin station. The transportation organization dispatched shuttle buses to facilitate transport between Bridgeland/Memorial and Franklin stations.

Police continue to investigate the incident and will provide information as it becomes available.
