Court Greenlights $20 Million Class Action Settlement on Apple Watches

A federal court approved a $20 million settlement between Apple and users of Apple Watch in a case that claimed the devices were defective and harmed wearers.
The class-action settlement was made as part of a lawsuit filed by Apple Watch users in December 2021. The plaintiffs alleged that the First Generation, Series 1 through 6, and Series SE Apple Watches contained an “undisclosed and unreasonably dangerous safety hazard” in the form of batteries suddenly swelling, according to an Oct. 25 court order.
