Former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has distanced itself from remarks made by a comedian who spoke at a Trump rally over the weekend.
“This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign,” Danielle Alvarez, a senior adviser for the campaign, told news outlets in a statement.
Tony Hinchcliffe, a stand-up comedian, told the crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday: “I don’t know if you guys know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now.
