Thousands of Boeing factory workers are heading back to work after striking employees accepted the aerospace giant’s latest contract offer, effectively ending the multi-week labor dispute.
Fifty-nine percent of machinists voted in favor of the new labor deal, the International Association of Machinists (IAM), representing more than 32,000 machinists, announced Monday evening.
“The strike has ended,” the union said in a post on social media.
Workers can return to work as early as the first shift on Nov. 6, the union said.
Thousands of workers have been on strike since Sept. 14.
Boeing’s latest contract offer includes a 38 percent wage increase over four years, up from the earlier proposal of 35 percent. The updated agreement also boosts 401(k) contributions and lifts the initial ratification bonus offer of $3,000 to $12,000….
